MOHAMMED SADIQ QAYUM

A Surrey man has been found murdered in a rural area of Chilliwack.  Police say the body of 25-year-old Mohammed Sadiq Qayum was discovered Dec. 30.   The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) issued a statement Thursday calling the death an "isolated incident."   Police are also looking for Qayum's car, a 1994 silver Honda Civic with B.C. licence plate 798 JJL.    File #Chilliwack 2004-45617   Dec. 30, 2004

A 3-and-a-half year old boy has been mauled to death by dogs in his home.  There were 3 rottweilers and a collie in the house at the time of the attack, which took place sometime Monday morning.  The family called 911 and rushed the child to the nearby Ridge-Meadows hospital where he was pronounced dead.     File #Ridge Meadows 2004-31410   Dec. 27, 2004    

 
 

 

MICHELLE LIZA WEBSTER

On Saturday December 18th, 2004 Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a body discovered in a vacant lot situated at the 7300 block of King George Highway.   The person has been identified as Michelle Liza Webster, 44, a known sex trade worker, who frequented the area of 80th Avenue and King George Highway.   File #Surrey 2004-158636   Dec. 18, 2004

 

JASON (Jay) BAXTER GARROW

On Dec 16th, 2004, Jason (Jay) Baxter Garrow, 32, was reported missing when he did not appear for work. His residence in North Surrey was checked with negative results.  His vehicle was located a few days later in the parking area of the Superstore in the 7200 block of the King George Highway.  Garrow’s remains were located in a shallow grave in Surrey.  As a result of this five-month investigation, Charles Martin Overall, 36, a Surrey resident, was arrested on Sept 8, 2005 for the murder of Jason Garrow.  Overall is on facing one count first-degree murder.  In addition, Lorena Lynn Wells, 34, a Surrey resident, was also arrested on September 8 and is before the courts to face one count accessory after the fact and one count of obstruction of justice.   RCMP File #Surrey 2004-157848    December 16, 2004  

 

RALPH WAYNE LANGE

On December 8, 2004, New Westminster police officers were called to an apartment residence at 221 11th Street where a 63-year-old male was discovered deceased.  The victim has been identified as Ralph Wayne Lange, 63.   An autopsy was conducted yesterday and it was determined that the victim died as a result of a stabbing.     NWPS file 04-33458    Dec. 8, 2004

 

 

DONNA LYNN CHISHOLM

A 45-year-old Vancouver tugboat skipper, has been identified by friends as the woman found brutally beaten to death last week.  She body was found in an industrial parking lot in the 1900 block of Powell St.   She was clad in only a black t-shirt, panties and socks. Blue jeans and a jacket were found nearby.  A green blanket covered her body.  There appears to have been a large futon left, as well, which was tucked away in a darkened corner with the body. ERIC BARTON

The investigation by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) continues into the suspicious death of an adult male found in the Lynnterm area off of Brooksbank Road on November 25th.   The deceased has been positively identified as 31-year-old Eric Barton of North Vancouver.     File #North Vancouver NV04-39399   Nov. 25, 2004    

 

 

SARBJIT BHULLAR

The death of Sarbjit Bhullar, 22 years, of Mission is being treated as a Homicide.  The investigation is centred around a residence in the 36500 block of Lougheed Highway, Mission, B.C.  As a result of the investigation conducted by The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Jagjit Singh Bhullar, 39 years, of Mission, B.C. was arrested on the 3rd December 2004 and charged with First Degree Murder.    RCMP File #Mission -15992//IHIT 2004-41663    Nov. 25, 2004      UPDATE:  Information that there is a publication ban in place on evidence and information on this case was release by the BC Court of Appeals which had posted a ruling granting bail to Jagjit Singh Bhullar on the BC Court of Appeal website after an error by judges and court administrators.

 

 

AKLESH ANUJ CHAUDARY

Mounties have identified the teenager shot to death at the Newton Athletic Park Sunday night and it looks like another case of Indo-Canadian gang violence.   The man shot dead at the Newton Athletic Park was Aklesh Anuj Chaudary, 19.      File #Surrey 2004-144162    Nov. 14, 2004

Angel Gates, 27, arrested Monday afternoon in the stabbing of a 44-year old man and has now been charged with Second Degree murder. The name of the victim - who died shortly after arriving at hospital - has not been released. Vancouver Homicide #24-2004   Nov. 8, 2004     

 

 

SIU YIN MA  (aka: Elvie Ma)

The Integrated Homicide Team in partnership with Richmond Serious Crime Unit has identified the human remains discovered November 5, 2004 in a slough on Rice Mill Road in Richmond.   The remains were forensically identified as Siu Yin MA ( aka: Elvie MA). DWIGHT CANON

New Westminster Police responded to a report of firecrackers call Oct 31, 2004.  During that investigation, the attending officer located a 20-year-old male in the parking lot of Century House who was exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication he was transported to the New Westminster Police jail facility, and lodged in cells pursuant to the Provincial Liquor Control and Licensing Act, where he died 5 hours later.  Results of the autopsy are that Dwight Canon died of trauma.   Caron was involved in a fight earlier in the evening, before he eventually died.   20-year old Mathew James Johnston is now being held in custody.  New Westminster File #04-29762     Oct. 31, 2004  

 

JASON MCLINTOCK

Jason Richard McLintock, 22, of Maple Ridge, was last seen on September 29th in the evening.   McLintock has a criminal record involving violence and property crimes.  On February 21st, 2005, 23-year-old Maple Ridge resident, Mark John Blackwell was charged with the First Degree Murder of Jason McLintock.  This charge was later stayed.   Mark Blackwell is further facing several other serious Assault charges and Obstruction of Justice related to a separate shooting that took place on February 12th, 2005 on Acadia Street in Maple Ridge when a 36-year old Maple Ridge man was shot while exiting his vehicle. A man died in hospital after an altercation with another man in the west lane of the 100 block of E. Hastings. They appear to have argued over money owed and a drug deal gone bad. The victim was unconscious after he was hit on the head and an ambulance took him to the hospital, where he later died.  He has not been positively identified yet and an autopsy is scheduled.     A suspect has been arrested and is being held pending investigation.    VPD File #04-250574 - Homicide #22-2004   Sept. 25, 2004  

AMANDEEP SINGH BATH

On September 24th at approximately 3:00 am police responded to a report of shots fired in the 9100 block of 125th Street in Surrey. Officers located one victim who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds The 27-year-old East Indian male victim was a Surrey resident and has been identified as Amandeep Singh Bath.   Bhabjit Singh Aujlq and Parminder Singh Basran have been charged.   Charges against them dropped in 2005.   Sept 2013 they were charged again.   RCMP File #Surrey 2004-119697   Sept. 24, 2004    Charged again   2 charged   RCMP lay murder charges

KEVIN EDWIN KOMUN

Kevin Kornun, on roller blades, was chased in the 500 block Robson Street by a suspect described as a white male, late 20's to early 30's, sandy brown hair, clean shaven, wearing a faded plaid shirt and blue jeans, 5'8" to 5'10", slightly heavy build.  VPD File #04-237118     Vancouver Homicide #21-2004   Sept. 15, 2004

RICHARD ARTHUR BELL

Vancouver police are investigating a ‘”drug deal gone bad” after the discovery of a black man's body in Stanley Park.  Police believe that Richard Arthur Bell, 29 was shot to death during a pre-arranged meeting.  The victim was found near the Rowing Club on a trail that leads to the Aquarium.  (CBC)    Vancouver Homicide #20-2004    Sept. 7, 2004

REGINALD HAYNES

Reginald Haynes, 75 was found dead inside the Columbia Hotel.   After a 5-year police investigation, George Phillip Holt, 63, was arrested at his home in New Westminster on Dec. 1, 2009 and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Reginald Haynes.     Vancouver Homicide #19-2004   Aug. 28, 2004  

GARY MARQUIS

Gary Marquis, 39 was stabbed to death near Andy Livingstone Park.  Eric Leonard Miskinack, 26 is charged with 2nd degree murder.   Vancouver Homicide #18-2004    Aug. 27, 2004

 

 

BOZENKA NEUMANN

Bozema Neumann, 63 was found dead in her Coquitlam home Aug. 23, 2004 of an apparent gunshot wound.  Her ex-husband Miroslav Neumann, 62 has been charged with first-degree murder.   RCMP Files #Coquitlam 2004-35024   Aug. 23, 2004 

 

 

JOHN ALBERT HEIDA

A Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling northbound on the Patullo Bridge and rounded the curve on the south side of the mid span.  The Cavalier lost control on the curve and crossed over the centre line and collided with a south bound Ford. 45-year-old Surrey resident, John Albert Heida, the driver of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Charges have now been laid against the driver of the Cavalier, 19-year-old Surrey resident, Felicia Mitchell.  She has been charged with one count each of impaired driving causing death, operating a vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol and dangerous driving causing death.  RCMP File #Surrey 2004-104873    August 22, 2004   

 

 

YILMAZ KURUOGLU

Police have identified the Vancouver's 17th homicide victim of 2004 as 33-year-old Yilmaz Kuruoglu.  He was found in the driver’s seat of a car.  Police say he had been shot at least a dozen times. BARBARA JANE DYCK

Langley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred in the intersection of 256 Street and 24 Avenue in Aldergrove.  According to investigators, an east-bound red Ford Tempo driven by Michael Evers, 26, a Aldergrove man failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection.  The Tempo then collided with a blue Oldsmobile that was driven by a thirty-seven-year-old Aldergrove woman. Also in the Oldsmobile were three children ages of twelve, seven and five.  The driver of the Oldsmobile, Barbara Jane Dyck, 37, died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. RAGNAR (Ray) MICHAELSON

A 21 year-old woman has been charged with the death of an Rag Michaelson, 84 who was killed in his East Vancouver home earlier this week.  Hannah Azak who apparently tried to steal Michaelson’s car has been charged with second-degree murder.     Police File #04-191049 - Vancouver Homicide #16-2004   July 28, 2004  Woman convicted of murder in home invasion     Palm print led police to murder suspect, court told

 

 

NAME NOT RELEASED

Police were flagged down in the area of 1066 West Hastings. Police found a male laying on the sidewalk, he had been shot. And ambulance and members of the Fire Department attempted to revive the male but he died on scene. As police were gathering witnesses, a male was located with a gun shot wound to his leg, he was taken to hospital. Police learned later of another male that was in hospital with a gun shot wound to his shoulder. Both victims are males in their mid 20's and have non-life threatening injuries. The disagreement had originally started between two males in Club Aqua, the friends of both parties got involved and shots were fired outside the club. 150 witnesses were questioned and the police are still investigating the incident.   VPD File #04-186258  Vancouver Homicide #15-2004   July 24, 2004 

 

 

HARDEEP (Hardy) BASSI 

Bassi of Langley is found dead in his car in Abbotsford after shots are fired around 3:20 a.m.   Friends of Bassi's family said he had gotten mixed up in gangs and drugs.   July 14, 2004     He ran a death squad   History of OC in the Indo-Canadian community

 

 

MICHAEL ALEXANDER NAUD

Michael Naud, 23, was hiding in Kelowna from a Surrey crime family. The Alkhalil family had already beaten up Naud’s lawyer and shot his father Ray, but finally got their revenge on Michael when someone shot him as he was going into his Ashton Manor apartment building July 6.  Naud, 23, died hours after he was shot in the chest Tuesday by what witnesses say was a lone gunman outside his apartment building on Buckland Avenue in Kelowna.   Michael Naud was found not guilty in the 2001 death of then 19-year-old Khalil Alkhalil.   July 6, 2004 PREVIOUS:  Weapons search a must when clubbing

 

 

MELODY JANE FOURNIER

Police responded to a report of a found body in the area of 1080 Cliveden Avenue.  On arrival police learned that an employee from a neighboring business had discovered a deceased adult female body behind a dumpster.  The body has been identified as Melody Jane Fournier, 48.  July 1, 2004     Updated:  Melody Fournier died by her own hand as a result of a drug overdose according to police.  

 

 

ROBBIE RAMSEY ARAJI

June 30th, 2004 Robbie Araji and a friend were out walking through Waterfront Park when they became involved in an altercation with a group of young men.  During the altercation the victim was assaulted and later succumbed to his injuries.  On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 27, 2004, four males were arrested and charged in connection with this homicide.  One Young Offender has been charged with Second degree murder.  A second young offender has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.  IHIT  has laid additional charges in connection with the homicide.  Chad Jonathan Baker, 19, and Philip Michael Wilmarth, 19, both of North Vancouver, have been charged with one count each of assault.   RCMP File #North Vancouver 2004-20697/IHIT2004-80002      June 30, 2004    Race an issue in fatal shooting

 

 

SHARON ANNE DIETRICH

Sharon Anne Dietrich, 47 a Surrey woman was murdered and then dumped into the Fraser River.   Her fully clothed corpse was pulled from the river after the crew of the River Eagle tug boat spotted it floating in the north arm, east of the CN Rail swing bridge.  RCMP File #Richmond 2004-23983/HIT-77083    June 23, 2004   

 

 

REBECCA VECCHIO

Rebecca Vecchio, 42, body was discovered on Gillis Avenue off McCallum Road June 17 by a couple out for a walk. They found her at the bottom of a two-metre concrete retaining wall near a small wooden pump house in a raspberry field.  Robert Douglas Charlton, 36, the victim’s common law husband appeared before a provincial court judge for the second degree murder of Vecchio.   Chilliwack Homicide #2-2004     June 17, 2004  

 

 

CONSTANCE GRAHAM

Police were called to the underground parking and storage area of an apartment building in the 300 block of E.2nd Ave. for a suspicious smell. They located a container and discovered a badly decomposed body inside. The apartment building is the residence of a Vancouver missing person, Constance Graham, 65 and police are looking at the possibility of a connection.  Gary Richard Smith, 49, has been charged in the disappearance and murder of his mother.     Police File #119382 - Vancouver Homicide #14-2004   May 29, 2004  

 

 

HANNAH GARTRY

On May 14th, 2004, Chilliwack RCMP responded to a complaint of a found body. Hannah Gartry, a 50-year old Caucasian female, has been identified as the victim.   Hannah Gartry a resident of the Downtown Eastside was last seen on December 7th 2003.   Missing for 6 months, her body was discovered on May 14th 2004 in an area of Chilliwack Lake Road .   On May 13th 2005, the following persons were arrested and have been charged with 1st degree murder.  Cheyenne Thomas, 29 years of age, resident of Vancouver and Teresa Truman, 24 years of age, resident of Vancouver.   RCMP File #Chilliwack 2004-15226    May 14, 2004

 

 

SONNY LEE

HERMAN DHILLON & PHIL HOTHI

Police were called to a residence in the 800 blk of E.32nd Ave. for a Shots Fired call to 911. Information was received that two people were deceased inside the residence. The victims are only tentatively identified, as police are awaiting autopsy results and next-of-kin notifications. Both victims are Indo-Canadian males in their 20's and are known to police. Several people were partying in a rooming house in the 1400 block of Venables St., which appears to be an after-hours club. Two men got into a dispute over a woman and one of the men shot the other in the chest. Police arrested Saeed Hassan Abdalla, a 33-year-old Vancouver resident and well-known to police, and charged him with second degree murder. The gun was recovered from the yard where it was thrown.   The victim, a 31-year-old Surrey resident, died at the scene.  Vancouver Homicide #11-2004    May 2, 2004   

 

 

NAME NOT RELEASED

Patrol Officers discovered a man lying in the street in the 300 blk of Jackson Ave. He had been involved in a physical altercation of some sort and had received serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance but died about 12 hours later from his injuries. The victim is in his early 20's and lived in Vancouver.   Identity will be confirmed at an autopsy that has now been scheduled for later today. HARJEET SINGH GHOMAN

A shooting took place in the north parking lot of the PNE.  Once the victim was in the vehicle he was shot numerous times.  The police were called by several witnesses who then described the suspect as, an East Indian male in his 20’s wearing dark clothes and a unique black balaclava with white and red trim around the mouth.  The suspect fled on foot and is believed to have got to a vehicle near Eton and Renfrew.  The victim Harjeet Singh Ghoman, a 23 years old Indo Canadian male, is known to the police.  Ghoman was a suspect in a September 2000 shooting in Vancouver.    File#04-101567   Vancouver Homicide #9-2004  April 26, 2004   He ran a death squad   History of OC in the Indo-Canadian community

 

 

JEFFERY JAMES HENDRY

Jeffrey James Hendry, 47, was found beaten to death in the 2100-block of Williams Street.  Investigators believe Hendry, who's mentally and physically challenged, was out riding his bike when he was attacked.  Alan James Hardy, 41, was arrested April 17th and charged with the 2nd degree murder.  Police are still not aware of the motive.  The victim and the assailant did not know one another.   Vancouver Homicide #8-2004     April 19, 2004  

 

 

STANLEY SLOAN

The body of Stanley Sloan, 52 was found in Gates park (the old Reeve Park) by a passer by on a bicycle.  Two males were arrested for this incident in the Port Coquitlam area.   One male is 18 years of age and the other is 15 years  Brenden Patrick McGoran, 18, who lives in Port Coquitlam, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of the 52-year-old Coquitlam man and was sentenced in B.C. JOSEPH LAMBERT

Joseph Lambert, 50, was stabbed to death in a Chilliwack duplex.  Lisa Michelle Williams has been charged with second degree murder.    RCMP File #Chilliwack 2004-9361    March 29, 2004  

 

 

KEUM HEE KWAN & DAISY JIEUN KOWN

Three members of a family died in an apparent double murder-suicide. The bodies of Derek Ad Wok Kwon and his wife Ku Eh Wan, both 44, and their 18-year-old daughter Daisy Gun Kwon were discovered Saturday in the home in the 14000-block of 18th Avenue.   RCMP File #Surrey 2004-36729    March 27, 2004    

 

 

AARON MILES NELSON

The name of the victim that was stabbed and killed on March 26th at Woodlands and 6th Ave was released. He is Aaron Miles Nelson, a 19-year-old Vancouver resident.   There are two possible suspects who are being described as black males, there are no clothing descriptions. KARMEN SINGH JOHL

Delta Police responded to a 911 call from a citizen travelling by the area of 9700 block River who saw a male slumped in a vehicle.  On police arrival it was determined that a non white male in his early 60’s was deceased in the vehicle.  Police confirm that Karmen Singh Johl, 63 did suffer fatal gunshot wound(s).  Johl had been convicted of drug trafficking in 1993 and lost property under the Proceeds of Crime Act in 1998.  March 23, 2004  Truckloads of pot      He ran a death squad   History of OC in the Indo-Canadian community

 

 

WALTER IRVING

Walter Irving, 51 died as a result of injuries received during a home invasion in Burnaby on March 15th, 2004.  He passed away in hospital on March 22nd.   Curtis Crossley, age 19, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Mr. Irving.  Crossley was found guilty of manslaughter but not murder.   RCMP File #Burnaby 2004-13930   March 15th, 2004

 

 

RUSSELL WALTON McCOY

Russell Walton McCoy, 41 was killed in a house in the 11200-block of 90th Avenue in North Delta on Monday afternoon.   Paul Schlosser-Moller, 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with manslaughter and is still being held in custody   March 8, 2004

 

 

GREPAL PAUL DOSANJH

The deceased is Gerpal Paul Dosanjh, 28 years of age was shot while at the Gourmet Castle Restaurant. .  Police questioned a number of individuals at the scene, including friends of the victim.  The case could have been solved right after it happened, but the friends that were with the victim are refusing to cooperate with police.  The only description available of the two males is that they are both in their 20’s, one Caucasian and one East Indian.  Dosanjh was a cousin of the original Indo-Canadian gangsters - Jimmy and Ron Dosanjh - who were gunned down in 1994 by suspected associates of Bindy Johal.   Police File #04-055881 – Vancouver Homicide #6-2004   March 6, 2004   He ran a death squad   History of OC in the Indo-Canadian community

 

 

COURTENAY DITCHBURN

Courtenay Ditchburn, 14, was killed March 1 when she was struck by a car while in the crosswalk. Coquitlam resident Tyler Swasnica, 22, is charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection with the Port Coquitlam teen's death.   RCMP File #Coquitlam 2004-8624   March 1, 2004

 

 

HESAM ABDULHUSSEN ZEHEH

Hesam Abdulhussen-Zadeh was a 23-year-old North Vancouver resident.  The cause of death is not being released at this time.  No suspects have been identified.    Police File #04-045817 – Vancouver Homicide #5-2004   Feb. 26, 2004

 

 

LAURENCE KA CHING CHOW

Laurence Ka Chow, 22 was shot to death after leaving the Insomnia karaoke bar in Richmond.  They found the vehicle Chow had been driving, a new-model silver SUV, slammed into the wall of a business.  Chow was already dead. CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL HOWEY

23-year-old Christopher Michael Howey was returning to his car on Boundary Road and Canada Way with a gas can when he was approached by two men who shot and killed him.  The only description was that they were wearing dark clothing.  Investigators are classifying this as a deliberate attack, though there is no known motive.   Howey was from Edmonton where he was well known to police    Police file #04-039231  Vancouver Homicide #4-2004  Feb. 16, 2004

 

 

MARC ROZEN

Gangster Michael Newman beat, stabbed and shot Rozen to death at his West End apartment on Jan. 5, 2004, a BC Supreme Court Justice ruled on Feb 20, 2013.  The victim had placed a newspaper classified ad to sell an expensive diamond engagement ring. RANJIT BRAR

Surrey RCMP were called to the area of the 7500 block of 123 Street for a report of a physical altercation. When officers arrived they found 25-year-old Ranjit Brar who was seriously injured.  He was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.  On March 26, 2004, 19-year-old Surrey resident Matthew St. Hilaire was arrested with relation to the murder of Ranjit Brar. He has been charged with second degree murder. On March 30, 2004, 21-year-old Nicholas St. Hilaire of Surrey was also arrested and charged with the second degree murder of Ranjit Brar.  On July 27, 2004, a third person, 19-year-old Surrey resident, Robert Bolton was charged in the second degree murder in relation to this investigation.    RCMP File #Surrey 2004-1985    Jan. 5, 2004    Plea bargain in killing sparks outrage

 

 

RACHEL DAVIS & RICHARD HUI

Rachel Davis, 23 was shot and killed after she intervened in a fight where one man was on the ground and being beaten by a group of Asian men outside the Purple Onion. Ironically, that victim-an Indo-Canadian male-may have shot Davis before fleeing the scene with another Indo-Canadian male.
